De’Aaron Fox – Sacramento Kings
While he is not even close to being in his prime yet, De’Aaron Fox has had a breakout season this year and has turned himself into one of the league’s best point guards. Between his athleticism and his pure ability to score, Fox is one of the league’s most dynamic young talents and has a ton of potential to grow into a special player, but that will not happen in Sacramento.
In fact, nobody’s career takes off in Sacramento because they are the Kings, an organization that is historically known for driving players away. Shadowed by the likes of the Lakers, Clippers and Warriors in California, the Sacramento Kings have been near the bottom of the league for years now and currently hold the league’s longest active playoff drought at 14 seasons and likely to be 15 by the end of this year.
De’Aaron Fox has all the talent and potential in the world to be the best point guard in the league one day, but this will not happen in Sacramento because they do not have the market size, nor the players next to him for Fox to be able to become an All-Time great.

In the offseason, De’Aaron Fox signed a five-year, $163M contract-extension to remain in Sacramento through the 2025-26 season, but that does not mean he will not request a trade between now and then. The Kings finally have something good going for them, but if recent history repeats itself, they will find a way to screw things up.
The 23-year-old guard is just scratching the surface of his full potential and has the ability to be an All-Star for many years to come, but he will not leave his imprint on this league in Sacramento. If De’Aaron Fox is to make the most of his career and his prime, then he will eventually leave the Kings and go elsewhere.
