Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G/F Eric Gordon

Houston Rockets Receive: G Seth Curry, G George Hill*, PHI 2024 2nd Round Pick*

(*One of the two to be included)

In this deal for Eric Gordon, the Philadelphia 76ers would obviously have to give up Seth Curry for salary relief since Gordon is owed $18.2M next season, but they would have a choice of whether or not to include George Hill or to waive him.

Hill’s contract is partially-guaranteed for about $1.28M next season if he is not waived before June 30, 2021. To free up the necessary cap space to acquire Eric Gordon, the Philadelphia 76ers could potentially waive Hill, then trade a future second-round pick and Curry to the Rockets, should this be something Houston is interested in.

Over the years, while he has missed time due to injuries, Eric Gordon has consistently been one of the best players on the Houston Rockets and can contribute either in the starting rotation or off-the-bench.

Since joining Houston ahead of the start of the 2016-17 season, Gordon has averaged 16.5 points, 2.1 assists and has shot 35.7% from three-point range in 248 career games with the Rockets. He is an experienced, veteran player that can still contribute at a high-level for a championship contender like the 76ers, which is why they could look to add him to their roster.

Now, let’s break down this trade for both teams and take a look at whether or not this trade makes sense for both the Houston Rockets and the Philadelphia 76ers.
