Does this trade make sense for the Boston Celtics?

Of course this trade makes sense for the Boston Celtics! While they would be giving up a ton of value and future assets in this trade, getting Jerami Grant could be the final move they need to make to finally make the NBA Finals.

Over the years, the Celtics have been to three of the last four Eastern Conference Finals but have not been able to break through and have a chance to fight for a title. With the way they have played this year, it does not seem like Boston will be in the ECF again, which is why they will be “itching” to make a big move in the offseason.

Boston’s championship window is beginning to close with the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks all having their own versions of a “Big 3” and while the Celtics also have three All-Star worthy players, they do not have the supporting cast like these other teams to lean on for production as well.

This season, the Celtics’ bench currently ranks 25th in the league in points per game and as a result, they are getting almost all of their scoring output from their starting rotation. Since they do not have much of a bench, adding a fourth, high-level scoring threat would be beneficial for them, especially if there are no opportunities for them to improve their bench now or in the offseason due to salary restraints.

Trading for Jerami Grant gives the Celtics one of the best starting rotations in the league and four legit All-Star level threats to score from anywhere on the court. Adding Grant to their roster is the best move in order for them to potentially make the NBA Finals in the future and win their 18th championship in franchise history.
