Does this trade make sense for the Detroit Pistons?
The only way this trade makes sense for the Pistons is if they are actively trying to move Jerami Grant, which is highly unlikely at this time. He has been a terrific leader for them and with his first opportunity to have his “own team,” he has shined in the spotlight.
Jerami Grant barely missed the All-Star game this season and is one of the better forwards in the Eastern Conference, so why would the Pistons want to deal him away? The only way this deal makes sense for the Pistons is if a third, unnamed team is involved in this deal and they are able to bring in another All-Star like talent to lead their young core.
Otherwise, this trade makes no sense for the Pistons because of everything they have built over the last few seasons. They may not have been the best team record wise, but they have been making all of the right moves through the draft and in free agency to bring in talent to help them win games moving forward.

With Jerami Grant as their leader and young talents in Killian Hayes, Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart and Josh Jackson around him, the Pistons definitely have a lot of potential moving forward. The best thing they can do as an organization is to continue being patient and look for ways to continue building for the future while keeping their current young core intact.
