3 way-too-early free agency targets for Lakers to consider

Chicago Bulls, Otto Porter Jr., Washington Wizards, NBA Rumors

3. Otto Porter Jr.

Otto Porter Jr. was one name on the trading block that was a sure thing to be moved. The Chicago Bulls acquired Nikola Vucevic from the Orlando Magic and Porter Jr. was part of the return. He is in the final year of his contract and it would be foolish to re-sign in Orlando. If Porter Jr. wants to help a contender, the Lakers could be a team that he finds himself in negotiations with.

Otto Porter Jr. has struggled with injuries over the last two years but he is still productive. The two sides could come to an agreement on a team-friendly deal if the Lakers use injuries as leverage. Porter Jr. is averaging 9.8 points per game in 27 this year. He is shooting 40% from three-point range this season and this is the aspect that should interest the Lakers the most.

Los Angeles is a team that could use a boost from beyond the arc. James has always made it a point to find shooters on the perimeter and Otto Porter Jr. could be another moving forward. The market will not be too high on Porter Jr. so the Lakers could get a decent price.

Los Angeles has made it a point to improve the perimeter and get more consistent. Otto Porter Jr. would help this notion and give them another threat. The Lakers are a win-now team and need to keep up with other teams in the Western Conference. Adding some more weapons from deep would do just that.
