Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets made their big splash earlier in the season when they acquired James Harden from the Houston Rockets. The Nets also signed Blake Griffin after he was bought out by the Detroit Pistons. They tried to Spencer Dinwiddie for some bench help, but nothing materialized. Despite that, Brooklyn is still among the winners at the NBA trade deadline.
For starters, none of the other teams atop the Eastern Conference made big moves to swing the playoff picture. The Milwaukee Bucks added P.J. Tucker, but no one was able to land Kyle Lowry, which is a big win for Brooklyn. While they didn’t add anyone via trade, the Nets will be active on the buyout market.
The Cleveland Cavaliers were unable to find a trade partner to take on Andre Drummond, which is another win for the Nets. Brooklyn is expected to be in the running, along with the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks, to land Drummond. Drummond will have to decide between playing for a contender on the Nets, the most minutes with the Lakers or making the most money with the Knicks.
Brooklyn could have used some extra depth, but their biggest need in the stretch run is getting healthy for the postseason.
