The Denver Nuggets have been quiet but active ahead of the NBA trade deadline this season. Aaron Gordon has been mentioned as a potential trade target, but there are quite a few teams pursuing him. Now, it appears that the Nuggets might have a real chance to acquire him.

According to a report from Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Nuggets have emerged as the favorites to end up trading for Gordon.

This may come as a surprise to some, but those around the NBA inner circle saw this coming. Denver has the young pieces and picks to offer the Magic that would entice them to pull the trigger. Other teams in the race to acquire Gordon did not have much trade ammo.

Speaking of those other teams, the Boston Celtics were the expected front-runners in this race. Boston has been talking to the Magic for the last few days about Gordon. Losing out on him would be a tough break for the Celtics.

Gordon has had a solid season with the Magic and his athleticism and scoring ability would look really nice with the Nuggets. He has averaged 14.6 points per game to go along with 6.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists. In addition to those averages, he has shot 44.2 percent from the floor and 39.3 percent from three-point range.

On the outside looking in, the Nuggets could offer a trade package centered around Bol Bol and Gary Harris. They could also include picks if they want to hold onto Bol. There are plenty of ways for these two teams to get a deal done.

At 25 years of age, Aaron Gordon would be a big pickup now and in the future for the Nuggets. He may not end up getting moved, but this is something to watch very closely.

Expect to hear more news soon about the Nuggets and their interest in Gordon.
