David Nwaba – Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets are basically having a “garage sale” at the trade deadline this year and every player on their roster could potentially be traded for the right price. While Victor Oladipo and Eric Gordon headline the trade rumors for Houston, David Nwaba is a sneaky player drawing some attention league-wide.

While he is likely to miss some time with a wrist injury, Nwaba has quietly been putting together a really solid season as a rotational bench player for the Rockets. In 30 games, David Nwaba has averaged 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.0 steals and has shot 48.6% from the floor.

The 6’5” wing is a really tough player and the best attribute of his game is his ability to play with a high-motor on both ends of the court. Nwaba is not afraid to challenge bigger, strong players when going up for a rebound and drives the ball really hard to the rim, often resulting in him getting to the free-throw line or knocking down high-percentage shots.

With him being owed just $1.8M this season, the Grizzlies could easily acquire David Nwaba and work him into their rotation when his wrist injury heals. He should not draw a high price tag from the Rockets and at the cost of a potential future draft pick, Memphis could get him at a steal given what he could potentially do for them off-the-bench.

While they do have a slew of talented shooting guards and small forwards, the Grizzlies could find ways to work David Nwaba into their rotation if they wanted to and if they are looking to add a low-cost, high-reward role player for their bench, Memphis should definitely consider taking a look at the Rockets’ guard/wing.
