Marcus Smart – Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics are rumored to be interested in both Bogdan Bogdanovic and John Collins, but if they are going to have a shot at getting either of these guys, they will have to give up Marcus Smart, who the Hawks are extremely high on.

Atlanta has expressed interest in the Celtics’ guard, but the only way Boston would give him up is if they are receiving either Bogdanovic or Collins from the Hawks. Adding Marcus Smart would be a huge addition to this Hawks team and give them another reliable two-way player that could lead them on the defensive-end of the court.

Over the last few seasons, Marcus Smart has been one of the best perimeter defenders in the league and an excellent secondary scoring option for the Boston Celtics. Parting ways with him would be hard for the Celtics to do, especially because he is the heart and soul of their team, but trading him away could present them with the best opportunity to capitalize on their championship window and acquiring him could give the Hawks their best chance to make the playoffs and potentially be a real threat.

There is no deal in place between the Hawks and the Celtics, but there is a ton of interest on both sides to get a potential deal done before the trade deadline. The Hawks could really use another reliable backcourt option next to Trae Young and the Celtics need to find more production next to their three All-Star talents, which is why both teams could continue to work out a potential deal.

While he has missed some time this year due to a calf injury, Marcus Smart is currently averaging 12.6 points, 5.4 assists, 1.6 steals and is shooting 33.3% from three-point range.
