Miami Heat Receive: F Jerami Grant
Detroit Pistons Receive: G Kendrick Nunn, G Tyler Herro, F/C Kelly Olynyk, MIA 2022 1st Round Pick (Top-5 Protected), MIA 2025 1st Round Pick
If Miami is going to have any chance of trading for Jerami Grant, they are going to have to offer up a “king’s ransom” to get him. Obviously this is a ton of value in this trade scenario, which is why this is the best offer the Heat could make to the Pistons for Jerami Grant without giving up Goran Dragic or Duncan Robinson.
In the rare event that the Pistons do decide to move on from their star forward, they would definitely want a handful of young talents and draft picks in-return, which is exactly what they can get from the Miami Heat.
Tyler Herro is a player the Heat have been very adamant on keeping and have not included him in any trade talks, but if they are going to want to acquire a player like Jerami Grant, they will have to be willing to cut ties with the second-year guard. The same goes for Kendrick Nunn, who is putting together a really solid “sophomore” season as well.

Both Herro and Nunn hold a lot of value, as does Kelly Olynyk since he could provide the Pistons with cap relief. Olynyk is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, freeing up $12.1M in cap space for the Pistons to potentially play around with in free agency.
Right now, Detroit’s goal is to continue building their roster with high-level, youthful talents, which is why Miami’s two young talents in Tyler Herro and Kendrick Nunn would be included in this deal. It is almost certain that Jerami Grant will not be on the move at the NBA trade deadline this season, but the Pistons do get a ton of value from the Heat in this trade scenario.
With that said, let’s take a closer look as to why this trade could potentially work out and make sense for both the Detroit Pistons and the Miami Heat.
