This Lakers-Pistons trade sends Jahlil Okafor to L.A.

NBA superstar big man Anthony Davis has been out for the Lakers since injuring his calf on Feb. 14 against the Denver Nuggets and since then, this Lakers team has really struggled to find production from their frontcourt. Montrezl Harrell has been decent off-the-bench, but Marc Gasol has been very underwhelming all season long as has been a liability at times.

Unlike last year, the Lakers have a real problem at the center position this year, as they do not have the same tenacity and grit from their big guys that they had last year during their championship run in the NBA Bubble.

Anthony Davis is not expected to return until near the end of March and as a result, Los Angeles could look to upgrade their frontcourt depth at the NBA trade deadline.

Even when Anthony Davis does return to the lineup, Los Angeles will likely be very cautious with him since they do not want to lose him indefinitely as they search for back-to-back titles.

The Lakers’ frontcourt is one of the only areas of this team that has consistently struggled this season without Anthony Davis on the court, which is why the Lakers could look to make a move sooner than later to bolster their frontcourt depth.

While he is currently out with a knee injury, Jahlil Okafor is an interesting name that the Lakers could potentially look to pursue for a low price. He does not present much to the Detroit Pistons and has barely played when he was healthy, which is why he could prove to be useful to Los Angeles when he returns.

With that said, let’s take a look at a potential Lakers-Pistons trade that would send Jahlil Okafor to the Los Angeles Lakers.
