Does this trade make sense for the Atlanta Hawks?

Boston could be giving the Hawks three first-round picks instead of one and this trade would still not make sense for them! There is nothing the Celtics can offer to make this trade make sense for the Hawks because they are well on their way to being a playoff team this year.

Atlanta is currently the 8-seed in the Eastern Conference and with all of the talent they have on their roster, they could end up being a dangerous team late in the year. Clint Capela is having a career year with the Hawks and they do not have any reliable depth behind him, which is why he is not expendable to the Hawks.

Without him, they have no shot at making the playoffs and trading him would set the Hawks back about one to two years in terms of progress. With Trae Young and John Collins continuing to improve and play at high-levels, this Hawks organization is not far off from being true threats in the Eastern Conference, which is why they should not shake things up roster wise.

At full strength, the Atlanta Hawks are not only one of the deepest teams in the league in terms of production from players at every position, but they could be one of the better offensive teams. Atlanta has a ton of players who can contribute in different ways, which is why they should not do anything to shake up their roster.

If anything, the Hawks should be looking to “buy” more talent at the trade deadline instead of trading away one of their best players. Numerous teams would probably love to add Clint Capela to their roster, but he should not be available whatsoever.
