OKC Thunder

The OKC Thunder can basically target whoever they want in the league via trade since they own the rights to 19 first-round draft picks through 2027. What this front-office has done is unheard of and the Thunder have draft picks for days that they can deal around, which is why they could absolutely join the Kristaps Porzingis trade front at any time.

Nobody really knows what GM Sam Presti has planned for the Thunder moving forward, especially since they have exceeded expectations every year they were expected to “tank.” Last year, the Thunder were projected to finish near the bottom of the league and made the playoffs in a loaded Western Conference as a 5-seed.

This year, they were once again projected to finish amongst the bottom feeders of the league, yet they find themselves just a few games back from being in the playoff picture. This season with 10 teams getting a chance to fight for a playoff spot, it is not crazy to think that this young Thunder team could ultimately find their way to the playoffs.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is getting better and turning into more of a superstar guard in this league every time he steps out on the court and with other high-level, young talents in Luguentz Dort, Darius Bazley and Hamidou Diallo, there is a lot to like about the OKC Thunder moving forward.

The future is extremely bright for this team and as a result, they could look to target one or two All-Star caliber players over the next year or so. Kristaps Porzingis would fill an immediate need in the frontcourt for them and could create a really solid “one-two punch” with SGA, which is why the Thunder could be interested in pursuing him should he become available in trade talks at the NBA trade deadline this season.
