Why This Trade Would Benefit The Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets did not sign Tucker to a contract extension in the offseason. This is the main reason why trading him would be beneficial because they would be able to get a return rather than letting him go in free agency. Houston has made it clear that they are a rebuilding team and can make many moves in hopes of doing so.
Russell Westbrook was sent to the Washington Wizards and exchange for John Wall while the Rockets got a massive return for James Harden during the season. Approaching the deadline, Houston has decisions to make with players like Eric Gordon and Victor Oladipo.
PJ Tucker is another name that could come up in NBA trade rumors but on a smaller scale. There will be plenty of teams interested in a dynamic shooter and the Rockets could get a decent return. If they are able to get a first-round pick along with some rotation players, this deal is a no-brainer.
