Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings definitely have a solid amount of talent on their team, but they are still missing something to be a real playoff threat in the Western Conference. Defensively, this team is lost and there is no fixing things on that end of the court, but they could use another frontcourt weapon.
Marvin Bagley III has looked great this season since he is finally healthy and Richaun Holmes has again put together a solid season to this point, but they could use an experienced veteran player who knows what it takes to win. Kevin Love is that kind of veteran player and while he would definitely hurt them financially, he could be the difference in them making the playoffs this year.
Last season in 56 games with the Cavaliers, Kevin Love averaged 17.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and shot over 37% from three-point range. If he can come to the Kings and not only rebound that well, but shoot above 35% from deep, then they will definitely have enough offensive firepower to compete with any team in the Western Conference.
De’Aaron Fox is on-track to being a future All-Star and rookie Tyrese Haliburton has been sensational this year, which is why they do not need any help in the backcourt. This season, Sacramento ranks 26th in rebounding and 13th in three-point shooting, which is why they need a guy like Kevin Love, if he can remain healthy.

It may be a big “if,” especially since he has missed time every season he has been in Cleveland, but Kevin Love can definitely be a difference maker for this franchise. For the price of some second-round picks, a protected first-round pick and bench players in Bjelica, Parker and Joseph, trading for Love is definitely worth the risk for the Kings to take.
For a team that has not reached the playoffs in close to two decades now, they need to make some kind of a move to help themselves win games, which is why going after Kevin Love to bolster their frontcourt makes a ton of sense.
