Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Minnesota Timberwolves
When you look at the Timberwolves roster, it is clear to see they have a handful of talented players, which makes things confusing in terms of why they are so bad. Towns, Russell, Beasley and Edwards are combining to average 76.7 points per game and their bench currently ranks 4th in the league in points per game this season.
The Minnesota Timberwolves definitely have a strong core when they are all healthy, but adding another talented frontcourt player like Aaron Gordon could finally allow them to start winning some games. With the addition of Gordon and this team hopefully at full strength, the Timberwolves would have D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, Anthony Edward, Aaron Gordon and Karl-Anthony Towns.
That is not a terrible starting five at all and quite honestly, should be enough talent and production to contend with almost every team in the league. With other young talents in Naz Reid, Jaylen Nowell, Jarrett Culver, Josh Okogie and Jaden McDaniels on the bench, the Timberwolves would definitely be a team that would get talked about, which is why trading for Aaron Gordon is definitely a strong move for the Timberwolves.
They need that extra spark in their starting rotation and a player in their frontcourt that can contribute in many different ways, which is why adding Gordon, a versatile forward, makes a ton of sense.

Ricky Rubio does not have a future in Minnesota and for the price of a young talent in Jarred Vanderbilt, they can acquire Aaron Gordon, who is already an established talent that plays the same position. They would know what they are getting with Gordon, which is something that cannot be said about a bunch of the younger talents on the Timberwolves’ roster.
There have been plenty of NBA trade rumors that have surfaced about Minnesota being interested in Gordon and wanting to pursue him ahead of the trade deadline, so this is definitely a trade scenario to keep an eye on over the course of the next few weeks.
