This Celtics-Pistons trade is centered around Jerami Grant

This past offseason, the Detroit Pistons made what is shaping up to be the best free agent signing of the season when they signed Jerami Grant to a three-year, $60M deal. Grant had a really solid season last year with the Denver Nuggets and after some impressive performances in the NBA Bubble, Detroit decided to make him their “star” player.

Everybody knew Jerami Grant was a really solid player, but not many were expecting to see him have the breakout season that he has. Not only has he put up All-Star like numbers to this point in the season, but Grant is the clear front-runner for Most Improved Player and looks to be the face of the Detroit Pistons for years to come.

In 33 games, Grant is averaging 23.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists and is shooting 36.3% from three-point range. While the Pistons are currently in last-place in the Eastern Conference, this organization has a lot of high-potential young players and in a couple seasons, they could be a very tough team to play.

Jerami Grant has given the Pistons that “spark” they have been looking for to potentially end their rebuilding process and while they are currently one of the worst teams in the league standings wise, they are actually not that bad of a team. They have lost twelve games by single-digits this year, including three overtimes losses and if they had won half of those twelve games, they would be very much in the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference.

This Pistons team is very young and inexperienced, but with Jerami Grant evolving into an All-Star like talent, the future is very bright for them. There is likely no chance that they look to trade him at the NBA trade deadline this year, but there have been rumors floating around that the Boston Celtics are interested in pursuing Grant.

Again, this is likely not going to happen since the Detroit Pistons absolutely love Jerami Grant and have made their intentions to not trade him clear, but let’s take a look at what a possible Grant to the Celtics trade could shape up to look like.
