Indiana Pacers Receive: G Norman Powell

Toronto Raptors Receive: G Jeremy Lamb, C Goga Bitadze, IND 2021 1st Round Pick, IND 2023 2nd Round Pick

Norman Powell is the guy not talked about enough on the Raptors and could have a huge impact on the Pacers if Indiana was able to pull off a trade to land him. The 27-year old wing is now in his sixth season in the NBA and after a breakout season last year, Powell has continued to play at a high-level this year.

With all of the injuries and problems the Raptors have had early on in the season, Norman Powell has been one of their most steady and consistent options, which is why they may not want to trade him. The Pacers, however, could put together a decent trade package that could aid Toronto’s frontcourt, as well as their draft pick depth.

With Caris LeVert and T.J. Warren both being sidelined indefinitely, the Pacers could use some depth on the wing and definitely utilize an athletic talent like Norman Powell. Edmond Sumner, Justin Holiday and Doug McDermott have picked up some of the slack with the Pacers’ stars being out, but ultimately, if this team is going to contend, they are going to need a guy coming off the bench that they feel can make a huge impact for them.

Even at full strength, Norman Powell would still have a huge impact on this Pacers team and could ultimately become a Sixth-Man of the Year candidate in future years. At just 27-years old, Powell is in the midst of the best years of his career and could be the one trade target for the Pacers that could help lead them to a deep playoff run.

Jeremy Lamb has been a solid role player for the Pacers, but does not possess as much upside as Powell on the wing. The only reason the Raptors could be interested in this trade is because Bitadze could fill a void at the center position for them and they would get an immediate 2021 first-round draft pick.

Lamb is still a double-digit bench scorer and with the upside Bitadze and the first-round pick bring to Toronto, this could be a great move for them to continue building a young core around their three star players in Lowry, VanVleet and Siakam.
