Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Houston Rockets
If the Rockets were to make a move and trade away Victor Oladipo, they would definitely want some young talent in return, the only question is whether or not they would be willing to accept some young guys like Kevin Knox and Frank Ntilikina, whose careers have not seemed to get going in New York. This will be something to monitor in NBA trade rumors in potential Oladipo trade scenarios.
Kevin Knox and Frank Ntilikina are not flashy names, nor are they high-impact players, but they are young talents that have a lot of potential to grow into something special. The Rockets have made their intentions clear that they want to get younger and grow a youthful core, which is why this trade could make a lot of sense to them.
Immanuel Quickley and two first-round picks in 2021 definitely give the Rockets a lot of value, but they would really have to work hard with Knox and Ntilikina to get something out of them. They each have potential to be solid overall players, but it will take time and they will need time out on the court to get accustomed to Houston’s system.
The worst thing that could happen is that Ntilikina and Knox both do not have futures in Houston and the Rockets are left with two 2021 first-round picks. Whether or not the two young players they receive in this trade turn into solid role players; it does not matter because the Rockets have the ability to draft two high-level young talents next offseason.
John Wall seems to be the point guard of the Rockets for the foreseeable future right now and Christian Wood is arguably the best player on their roster when healthy, which is why the Rockets need to do everything they can to surround these two guys with as many young, high-level players as possible.

Victor Oladipo is a great player when he is healthy, but he is in the final year of his contract and seems adamant on wanting to test his value on the open market. As a result, trading him now while he still has a lot of value and the Rockets can get a lot in exchange for him makes a ton of sense.
The Knicks have plenty of young talent and plenty of draft picks to put together a very attractive and lucrative offer for Victor Oladipo. The Rockets would be missing out on what could be a fantastic deal if they decide to keep Oladipo this season.
