Through 35 games, the New York Knicks are currently 18-17 and are in 4th place in the Eastern Conference standings. With the first-half of the NBA season coming to an end, it is safe to say that Tom Thibodeau should be the Eastern Conference Coach of the Year so far because of what he has done with this Knicks team. They will be a team to watch in NBA trade rumors as potential buyers.
Not only do they rank second in the league in defensive efficiency, but the Knicks as a whole are a really solid all-around basketball team. They have their All-Star talent in Julius Randle, a key secondary scorer in R.J. Barrett and plenty of solid role players in Alec Burks, Derrick Rose, Elfrid Payton and rookie Immanuel Quickley.
While they have some young and inexperienced players on their team, the best part about this Knicks team is that they have a great blend of veteran and experienced talents as well. D-Rose, Alec Burks, Reggie Bullock, Austin Rivers and Taj Gibson are all veteran players who have bounced around the league quite a bit and bring plenty of good and bad experiences with them.
All of these guys know what it takes to win in this league and along with the young pieces on this year’s New York team, they have really come together to create something special. The Knicks are not going to be contending for the top seed in the Eastern Conference, but they are definitely looking like a playoff team that nobody is going to want to face.
