Why This Trade Would Benefits The Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics lack depth all over the floor. The frontcourt has been abysmal for two years now and worsened in the offseason when the team lost Gordon Hayward to the Charlotte Hornets. No longer does the team have the talent to field a high-level spread lineup.
On the perimeter, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been offensive dynamos but have been unable to get their teammates going in the same way. There is a need to improve the team’s perimeter defense on the wing to help keep up with small ball units like the Brooklyn Nets.
Kemba Walker has been trying to work his way back from ongoing knee issues and has recently shown intriguing signs of progress. Regardless, he found himself in NBA trade rumors in the offseason as Danny Ainge wanted to move on from him due to those injuries.

Gordon is an effort player that competes well on both ends. He is beginning to learn how to create his own shot and develop a consistent three-point jumper. He is a starting-caliber player that would give the Celtics another option.
This is the kind of player Boston needs. They could use a guy with a high motor who is willing to do the little things right. Gordon would be an exceptional fit both on the floor and in the locker room.
