Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks don’t need much more than a healthy Giannis Antetokounmpo in order to be successful. However, in order to win a championship, it takes a strong supporting cast that makes the most of a team’s salary cap spending room.
The Bucks obviously love the skill-set that Khris Middleton has, but he is expendable in order to land players that could help the team contend for titles in the near future. His salary cap hit is substantial all the way through the expiration of his deal in 2024.
The Bucks would be getting Gary Harris, Will Barton, and Michael Porter Jr. to help build some depth behind their starters. The long-term potential that Porter Jr. brings to the table while being on a rookie deal is something the Bucks should be enticed by as they build around Giannis Antetokounmpo under a supermax extension.

Garry Harris hasn’t quite taken the next step in his NBA career since being viewed as a potential breakout candidate. He’s still a very impactful wing defender who can hit shots. He would likely thrive in the Bucks’ system.
Will Barton is a proven veteran swingman who can do a little bit of everything. He wants to be a starter and has made his way into NBA trade rumors at times because of that. He wouldn’t be needed by the Nuggets in a scenario where they can land Khris Middleton.
