Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Chicago Bulls

For a team that has missed the playoffs the last three seasons and has failed to win over 27 games per year during that span, the Chicago Bulls did not really do anything to make themselves better now this past offseason. Instead, they have focused on developing their young talent further and letting Zach LaVine grow into an All-Star talent, which he has continued to do this year.

This season, it seems likely that they will not win enough games to push them into the playoffs, so what can they do to end their playoff drought? Well, going out and getting Lonzo Ball would not be a bad idea at all, especially given their struggles at the point guard position over the years.

Zach LaVine does everything for the Chicago Bulls and does not have any help whatsoever. The rest of their young core are still growing as players and still have a lot of development to do, which is why bringing in Lonzo Ball to be the main facilitator on the court would be extremely beneficial to this team. Not to mention, Ball is only 23-years old and can be the point guard of this team moving forward.

Coby White is a fantastic young guard and has a lot of potential to grow into a great combo-guard and with rumors circulating about Zach LaVine’s future with the team, pairing Ball up with White in the backcourt could help this Chicago Bulls team moving forward tremendously.

Thaddeus Young and Denzel Valentine do not have much of a future with this organization and while it would cost them a first-round pick in this trade, getting Lonzo Ball and two second-round picks in 2021 help the Bulls get more young talent immediately in efforts to finally turn things around.

This organization is not far off from being a legit playoff team in the Eastern Conference, but they are going to need to find more reliable talent to put around Zach LaVine because he cannot carry this team on his own.

With Kris Dunn gone and Tomas Satoransky not being a true reliable point guard, the Bulls need to solidify the depth in their backcourt. Lonzo Ball can be the “do-it-all” guy for the Chicago Bulls and help speed up the development of some of the other young players on this team. Trading for Lonzo Ball gives the Chicago Bulls one of the best young cores in the NBA and a legit chance to be one of the team’s nobody will want to play 2-3 years down the road.
