Chicago Bulls Receive: G Lonzo Ball, C Nicolo Melli, CLE 2021 2nd Round Pick (via NOP), WAS 2021 2nd Round Pick (via NOP)

New Orleans Pelicans Receive: F Thaddeus Young, G Denzel Valentine, CHI 2023 1st Round Pick (Lottery-Protected)

Zach LaVine has been playing out-of-his-mind this season for the Bulls, but surprisingly, one of their better role players has been veteran big man Thaddeus Young. With injuries to Markkanen and Carter Jr, Young has stepped up into a bigger role with this team and as a result, has become a key trade target for many teams around the NBA.

In 21 games off-the-bench this season, Thad Young is averaging 11.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.3 steals and is shooting 59% from the floor. He is a key veteran player that the Pelicans could really utilize in their frontcourt and an intriguing player to receive in a Lonzo Ball trade.

Denzel Valentine also could bring a lot of worth with him to New Orleans. He is a score-first wing player and with him shooting 38.6% from three-point range this season, Valentine could make a big impact with the Pelicans, who currently rank 16th in the NBA in three-point shooting.

Everything about this trade package between the Pelicans and Bulls is pretty even, especially the draft compensation both teams would be receiving. If they were to give up Lonzo, the Pelicans would likely want a first-round pick in return and if the Bulls are to give up two key role players, then they would likely want one or two second-round picks in return.

Nicolo Melli is basically a part of this trade to make the finances work on both sides, but trading Lonzo Ball for Thad Young and Denzel Valentine makes a lot of sense for both teams, which leads us into our next breakdown for both teams.
