Why This Trade Would Benefit The Toronto Raptors

This is Kyle Lowry’s ninth year as a member of the Toronto Raptors. He has given the city plenty over the years including their first NBA Championship. At some point, all good things must come to an end and Lowry’s days in Toronto could be numbered. This would make sense for both sides in many ways.

We highlighted, Kyle Lowry’s contract situation. Toronto will have a choice to make regarding their point guard. They will have to determine if it is worth it to bring him back.

If it is not, then the Raptors should trade Lowry before he is eligible to leave in free agency. In this scenario, Toronto would be adding an intriguing replacement veteran guard in Goran Dragic while adding a stretch-five to help space the floor.

A trade would also get his massive contract off the books right away. In Kyle Lowry’s case, a trade makes sense because he should want to play for a winner. At 34-years old, another ring should be on the mind of Lowry. If Toronto is not viewed as that winner, a trade would benefit the point guard.

It would be a shock to see Lowry in another uniform after all these years but it is certainly not impossible. This will be a situation that ill be closely monitored as we approach the NBA trade deadline.
