Why This Trade Would Benefit The Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers have been featured in NBA trade rumors since the beginning of the offseason. With their biggest piece off the table in Victor Oladipo, they could look elsewhere.
Myles Turner has bene involved recently because of the emergence of Domantas Sabonis. If they look to make a lower-level deal, Jeremy Lamb could be the player moved. There will be an overlap in Indiana’s scoring ranks once Caris LeVert and TJ Warren return. Adding a better defensive option with a complementary offensive skill-set would help long-term.
In Kentatious Caldwell-Pope, the Pacers would be getting a ‘3-and-D’ option that can provide some scoring punch when needed. They can both fill it up from three-point range and defend on the other end. Caldwell-Pope would bring over a winning mindset from the Lakers.
This is something the Pacers could use as they try to climb up the standings. Indiana would also get some second-round draft capital that would be valuable in another potential deal. Right now, Jeremy Lamb has not been a huge factor for the Pacers and they would value the assets they receive more.
The Pacers are looking to get back near the top of the Eastern Conference over the next couple seasons. Small deals like this could set them up for a bigger one somewhere down the road.
