Why This Trade Would Benefit The Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers did not sit on their hands in the offseason after winning a championship. They were busy, both in free agency in a trade market, and may look to be aggressive once again prior to the NBA trade deadline. They do not need to make a move to win a championship but it cannot hurt.
Montrezl Harrell was the big free-agent signing in Los Angeles while they also added Marc Gasol. Dennis Schroder came over in a trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder to improve the point guard position.
The Lakers made it a point to get better along the perimeter and they did so with Schroder. They also signed Kyle Kuzma to a three-year extension. Fournier is a two-way player who would help the team immediately. He can shoot from deep or create his own shot on the perimeter.
It’s clear what results a team led by LeBron James can achieve with an array of perimeter shooting surrounding him. Now, he has Anthony Davis with him. Right now, the Lakers have some shooters but could use a more versatile offensive threat like Evan Fournier.
If the Lakers are still looking to improve on the perimeter, Fournier would be the perfect fit. He does not have to be the main option within the offense and knows how to play a secondary role.
