Why This Trade Would Benefit The New York Knicks
The New York Knicks currently sit at 9-13 in the Eastern Conference. This is a surprising start for a team that was expected to win no more than 25 games. They have had some players perform above what they were expected. The Knicks have showed that they have a young core to rely on but they need that star player to take over. This would be Zach LaVine.
RJ Barrett has improved but he is not a finisher that can take the last shot. Julius Randle is in the second year of a three-year contract he signed with the Knicks last offseason. He is averaging 22.4 points and 11.1 rebounds to lead the team.
Rookies Immanuel Quickley and Obi Toppin will be apart of the plan for years to come. The Knicks have not had a star presence since Carmel Anthony. This is a chance for them to get a player that could help them for years to come.
At 26-years old, LaVine has plenty of good years left. He is already one of the top scorers in the NBA and only getting better. LaVine is the type of player that would be larger than life in New York if he could ever lead the Knicks to the postseason.
