Why The Trade Would Benefit The Washington Wizards

It feels like forever ago that the Washington Wizards were competing in the Eastern Conference with hopes of going to the NBA Finals. Turns out it was not too long ago when John Wall and Bradley Beal were playing at a high-level together on the floor. Bradley Beal is still playing at that high level but the franchise has completely fallen apart.

Bradley Beal is one of the best scorers, if not the best, in the game right now. It is time that he moves on and goes to a contender. In this particular deal, Russell Westbrook would be the one on his way out. The Wizards would benefit greatly from trading their stars and completely blowing up the roster.

This would land them plenty of assets that could help them retool quickly over the next few years. Rebuilding in the NBA is not an easy thing to do and it is even more difficult when there are players making the money that Russell Westbrook is.

This deal is not about names. It is about getting rid of salary and getting younger for the future. The front office in Washington has a lot of work to do and this could be just one of many moves.
