Trade No. 3
Golden State Warriors Receive: G Bradley Beal, CHI 2023 2nd Round Pick, WAS 2024 2nd Round Pick
Washington Wizards Receive: F Kelly Oubre Jr., Kevon Looney, Damion Lee, Jordan Poole, MIN 2021 1st Round Pick, GSW 2022 1st Round Pick
Out of every trade package the Warriors could send to the Wizards for Beal, this one is probably the most extreme in terms of how many players the Warriors would have to trade away in order to bring in Beal’s $28.7M contract. If Kelly Oubre Jr. is to be involved in a trade without Andre Wiggins for Bradley Beal, then the Warriors will have to be willing to split with guys like Kevon Looney and Jordan Poole because of their contracts.
Outside of Steph, Klay, Draymond and Wiggins, the rest of the Warriors roster is owed close to nothing in terms of contract payout, which makes things tough for the Warriors in terms of personnel when trying to make this kind of trade.
Overall though, while they would be giving up a solid amount of bench depth, the Warriors would not make out terribly in this trade. Sure, they would be giving up two very valuable first-round picks over the next few years, but they do get two future second-round picks in return that can be used to acquire some key role players.
Trading away Damion Lee and Jordan Poole also would not hurt the Warriors much because they would still have guys like Kent Bazemore and Brad Wanamaker off-the-bench. Getting Bradley Beal is the ultimate goal and this trade package does do that for the Warriors.
This trade package probably favors the Warriors more than the Wizards, which is why if Golden State is going to try and land Bradley Beal, they will likely have to offer Washington one of these next two trade packages instead.
