Aaron Gordon – Orlando Magic
Now in his 7th season in the NBA, Aaron Gordon has always been a very athletic big man, but the questions around his future in Orlando have been swirling since this past offseason. He is under contract through next season until he is set to become a free agent, but with his recent lack of production, could the Magic look to trade the former 4th overall pick?
Over the course of Aaron Gordon’s career, he has averaged 12.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and has shot 44.7% from the floor. His athleticism and versatility to either play on the perimeter or in the low-post make him an intriguing trade target for the Timberwolves, especially since he is only 25-years old.
Since trading away Kevin Love in 2014, the Timberwolves have struggled to find reliable options in their frontcourt and besides Karl-Anthony Towns, they do not really have any legit scoring threats in the low-post. While he is not a traditional big man, Aaron Gordon could be the stretch four they need to be a really strong and athletic transition team.
Not only could they be a fast-paced, up-tempo team, but they could wind up leading the NBA in fastbreak points at some point with Aaron Gordon in the frontcourt. With him being one of the better athletic forwards in the league, the T-Wolves would have plenty of young and athletic players on their roster.
If Aaron Gordon does not get traded at the NBA trade deadline, Minnesota should definitely consider making a move for him in the offseason. Not only would he be in the final year of his contract next season, but he could end up being a really nice fit next to Towns in the frontcourt.
