Why This Trade Would Benefit The Washington Wizards
The Washington Wizards are on their way to their third straight losing season. They made some moves in the offseason but they have not mattered to this point. After sending John Wall to Houston, the Wizards could decide to just cut ties with their past and send Bradley Beal away. This would go a long way for a rebuild.
First, if Bradley Beal is unhappy, it makes sense to trade him. The other reason is that Beal is the kind of star that would require a huge haul from the trade partner. The Celtics have plenty of prospects and draft picks to give up in this deal. This would mean that Russell Westbrook would be on his own in Washington.
Russell Westbrook has played nine games for the Wizards and is scoring 18.1 points per game. He is shooting just 37.1% from the field. Washington also signed Davis Bertans to a contract in the offseason. The Wizards are a franchise that needs to blow it up and start over.
Injuries have halted the Wizards in recent years and now it is the lack of depth. Beal would help Washington replenish assets right away and begin a proper rebuild that isn’t built to let done one high-volume scorer shouldering the load heavily offensively.
