Atlanta Hawks Receive: G Zach LaVine

Chicago Bulls Receive: F Cam Reddish, F Tony Snell, ATL 2021 1st Round Pick, ATL 2023 1st Round Pick, MIA 2024 2nd Round Pick (via ATL)

Over the years, Zach LaVine has been getting better and better as an all-around player and is an All-Star level talent, but because the Bulls have been so bad over the years, LaVine has not received the recognition he deserves. Last season, the 25-year old wing averaged 25.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists and shot 45% from the floor, 38% from three-point range.

So far this season in 14 games, LaVine is averaging 27.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and is shooting 49.8% from the floor, 38.7% from three-point range. He is a three-level scorer who can score from the perimeter all the way to the paint and is a freak athlete who can push the ball in transition.

Outside of Trae Young right now, the Hawks have a lot of really solid role players, but with Gallinari and Bogdanovic both being out, they do not have a reliable No. 2 option to help Young on the offensive end of the court. Both John Collins and De’Andre Hunter have stepped into bigger roles this year, but have also seen their fair share of struggles at times.

Bringing in a guy like Zach LaVine makes a lot of sense for the Hawks, especially given their willingness to spend money this offseason to have a chance at making a run at the postseason. With LaVine in the backcourt next to Trae Young, there is no reason why this team cannot and will not be in the playoffs.

Tony Snell is a very underappreciated player who is now in his 8th season in the NBA. The 29-year old wing originally started his career in Chicago with the Bulls and getting the chance to come back and play in Chicago could be beneficial for both him and the organization.

While he is not much of an elite scorer, Snell is the epitome of a “3-and-D” player, as he is great on or off-the-ball defensively and has shot 38.6% from deep over the course of his career. With a lot of young talent on their roster, Snell could rejoin the Bulls and immediately be a veteran leader for them on the defensive end of the court.

Cam Reddish on the other hand is also a solid two-way player, but has a lot of potential to grow into something special. Given his athleticism and length on the wing, Reddish is an intriguing young player, giving the Bulls more depth and a player they could potentially build with for years to come.

While he has struggled to shoot from deep this season, only shooting about 33.3%, Reddish could grow into an elite offensive weapon for a team that has been searching for answers ever since Derrick Rose injured his knee in 2011.

Overall, both teams can make out pretty well in this trade for a couple of reasons. Let’s take a look at why this trade makes sense for both the Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Hawks.
