Why This Trade Would Benefit The Los Angeles Lakers
It is obvious that the Los Angeles Lakers do not need to make any more moves to win their second straight NBA title. This is a depth move that would give them some more shooting ability around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The front office in Los Angeles has made it clear that they are not interested in sitting on their hands and becoming content.
In the case involving Alec Burks, he is a low-risk move that could turn into a steal. This, of course, is if he is on the floor. He has missed time with an ankle injury but is ready to return to the lineup. Burks is a three-point weapon for any team he is on. Through three games, Burks made 10 of his 15 attempts from beyond the arc.
After spending his first eight years with the Utah Jazz, Burks has been unable to find a home. He has spent the last two years with four different teams. If the Knicks send him away, this would be the third year in a row that he has been with two different teams.
Los Angeles could be his new home and there are certainly worse places to be. The Lakers and Burks would benefit from this commitment. Their plan for the sharpshooter beyond this season is unknown but it is a great short-term option to give LeBron James and Anthony Davis some more help.
