Why This Trade Would Benefit The Toronto Raptors
The Toronto Raptors is off to a 3-8 start this NBA season. This was not what they hoped for but it is not a surprise given the fact that they lost some key contributors such as Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol in free agency. They were able to get a deal done with Fred VanVleet which makes him the centerpiece moving forward.
There is no doubt that Kyle Lowry is still capable of playing at a high level in the league. At 34-years old, his time in Toronto has come and gone. Right now, the Raptors look like a bad team which means they need to reshape some aspects of the roster.
VanVleet and Pascal Siakam are the future of the team. Harris is 28-years old and could be that third piece to the lineup. He is having one of the best starts of his career with 18.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this year. He is shooting 51% from the field and 45.1% from three-point range.
The Raptors were able to get their championship when they made a trade for Kawhi Leonard. After losing some pieces in the offseason, they could be heading towards a rebuild. Sending away their veteran point guard could be first on the list.
