Why This Trade Would Benefit The Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers made some moves in the offseason to improve from beyond the arc. This was a huge need and it was visible during the restart. They acquired both Seth Curry and Danny Green. Both have made impacts this season. The 76ers finally realized that they will need to put shooters around Ben Simmons and it has worked through 13 games.
Daryl Morey and Doc Rivers have both said that they are not interested in trading Simmons or Embiid. Early on, Embiid is looking like an NBA MVP candidate with 25 points and 11.5 rebounds per contest. Simmons has had trouble scoring the ball but he leads the team with 7.9 assists per contest.
He makes a great impact on the offense but he could do that from the wing. If Kyle Lowry would come in and take over at the point guard position, this would allow Simmons to play off the ball. He would still be able to rebound effectively.
Most importantly, the contract of Harris would come off the books. Philadelphia dumped Al Horford’s deal to Oklahoma City when they acquired Green. This would be a beneficial move for the Sixers moving forward.
