Why This Trade Would Benefits The Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics are off to a 7-3 start this NBA season — sitting atop the Eastern Conference standings. This was to be expected. Come postseason time, they will hope for a better fate than the Eastern Conference Finals’ exit that they suffered down in the NBA Bubble. Help in the frontcourt in the form of Julius Randle would certainly benefit the team.
Thompson is averaging just 8.4 points per game this season. Daniel Theis has played in all 10 games and is scoring 7.4 points per contest. These are some good options off the bench but they are being forced to start. Thompson has started all eight games he has played while Theis has made 10 starts this season.
Both players are being used well on the defensive end but have not been a factor offensively. This is where Randle would step in and help. He is shooting the ball well from the midrange and has taken strides towards becoming a more consistent three-point shooter. His work defensively has helped him take the next step.
Randle would benefit greatly from being sent to help a contending team fight for a championship. He would bring a different dynamic to the Celtics’ on both ends of the floor. This would be a big-time move for a team that is used to making impact transactions.
