Why This Trade Would Benefit The Brooklyn Nets
Kyrie Irving has played 27 games for the Brooklyn Nets. Just seven this season where he is averaging 27.1 points. The ability is not in question with Irving. With the newly acquired Harden, the Brooklyn Nets have become the betting favorites in the Eastern Conference with their new big three. Irving has missed these games because of personal reasons and has not been communicating with the organization.
At what point do the Nets decide to pull the trigger? They would still be title contenders with Durant and Harden leading the way. Brooklyn was forced to give up LeVert in the trade but could add a couple of other depth pieces in DiVincenzo and Wilson.
The biggest piece would be Holiday. He is an all-star caliber point guard but does not need to focus on scoring the ball. Holiday is an excellent ball-handler and can act as a pass-first guard within the offense. This is necessary with dominant players like Durant and Harden. Holiday’s fit in Brooklyn is obvious when looking at styles of play.
Most importantly, the Nets would get rid of the headache that is Irving. This is not something they need to be focusing on late in the season or during the postseason. This is a team that is ready to win a championship and can do so with or without Irving.
