Victor Oladipo – Indiana Pacers
Victor Oladipo’s name has been mentioned a lot in NBA trade rumors this offseason and while both he and the Pacers shoot down any speculation of Oladipo being on the move, Indiana did not get a contract extension in place to keep him long-term.
Whether or not this is because they want to monitor the former All-Star’s injury situation and make sure he can still play at a high-level, Victor Oladipo’s future in Indiana is very much up-in-the-air.
In the last three seasons, Victor Oladipo has played in just 130 games and has averaged 20.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and shot 45.3% from the floor. In his first two seasons with the Pacers, he was an NBA All-Star, but those days seem to be far in the distance now as major leg injuries have hurt Victor Oladipo’s chances of playing.
Durability and athleticism are definitely a concern moving forward with Victor Oladipo in his career and could be a factor in him being traded away by the Pacers this season, even though he has looked strong early on.
As it stands right now, the market for Victor Oladipo is pretty slim because, much like the Pacers, teams around the league want to see if he can still play at a high-level. If he is to be traded by Indiana, it likely will not come until the trade deadline, so teams can evaluate him and so the Pacers can increase his value.
Since his first season with the Pacers in 2017, Victor Oladipo’s offensive numbers have continually declined and while a lot of this has to do with the injuries he has suffered, it is definitely a major concern entering his fourth season with the team.
If Victor Oladipo is not traded during the trade deadline, the Pacers could very well explore sign-and-trade options next offseason as it is leaning towards this being Oladipo’s final season with the Indiana Pacers.
