Why This Trade Would Benefit The Indiana Pacers

There isn’t a pressing need for the Indiana Pacers to make major changes to their roster. They are off to a strong start to the 2020-21 NBA season without even having TJ Warren in the lineup. However, there’s always room to improve their team and Kyle Lowry and OG Anunoby would certainly help.

Kyle Lowry already has familiarity with Pacers head coach Nate Bjorkgren from their mutual time with the Toronto Raptors. That would help him to step right in and contribute as a key member of Indiana’s backcourt with Malcolm Brogdon playing his natural shooting guard position.

There hasn’t been controversy involving Oladipo and the Pacers since the start of the 2020-21 NBA season. That doesn’t change the fact that Oladipo is playing on an expiring contract. Indiana should at least give real consideration to trading him away.

By landing OG Anunoby in this trade, the Pacers would have a versatile forward that can help them to play small around Domantas Sabonis at the center position. There would be enough defensive contributions to keep the unit strong without Myles Turner while elevating the offense.
