Why The Trade Benefits The Washington Wizards
The Washington Wizards just made a deal for Russell Westbrook with the Houston Rockets. It would be interesting to see them flip him right away. If they do this, it would be assumed that they are committed to Bradley Beal long term. He has been on the Wizards since they drafted him but has been talked about being on his way out.
Both Bradley Beal and John Wall discussed being traded from the Wizards. This worked for Wall, as he was the player sent to Houston in exchange for Westbrook. Beal still has plenty of game left. He is coming off a career-high 30.5 points per game during the 2019-20 NBA season.
Washington signed Davis Bertans as well this offseason. The Knicks have NBA Draft capital from the Porzingis trade and also Marcus Morris. They would be able to send picks back along with Randle, who would be productive down low.
Kevin Knox and Frank Ntilikina might not be the most intriguing players for Washington, but a change of scenery might be good for both of them. Washington might be able to develop them in a different way that actually works.
