Why The Trade Benefits The New York Knicks

This is not the first time we have seen the New York Knicks and Russell Westbrook featured in the same sentence. There have been NBA trade rumors about the All-Star guard being sent to New York for a few years now. Nothing has happened yet but as his career gets deeper, it becomes more likely.

The Knicks seem to add stars when they are at the backend of their career trying to squeeze the final ounce of production out of them. Westbrook is still extremely productive, as he has put up two triple-doubles already this season.

Westbrook would finally give the Knicks some star power at the point guard position. With players like RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson, Westbrook would take the lead offensively and help the younger generation. He would be able to bring energy and act as a coach on the floor.

The Knicks need a star. This is a team that has not been exciting for years now. When they trade Kristaps Porzingis, they traded any hope that the team had moving forward. Westbrook would be able to bring some of that back immediately.
