This Nets-Pistons trade would send Derrick Rose to Brooklyn

Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Brooklyn Nets

Spencer Dinwiddie started the NBA season in the starting lineup next to Kyrie Irving, giving the Brooklyn Nets two reliable ball-handlers and floor generals in their starting rotation. Dinwiddie complemented Irving well in a two-guard lineup, which is why Brooklyn rolled out the lineup they did with him in the backcourt.

With Dinwiddie out of the rotation now, Caris LeVert will step in, but there is no reliable option on the roster to backup Kyrie Irving in case he was to go down with an injury. Third-year guard Chris Chiozza has been the guy to come off the bench and fill some of the minutes left behind by Dinwiddie, but if this team is going to be a championship contender, they cannot have Chiozza leading their second unit.

Bringing in Derrick Rose to come off the bench behind Kyrie Irving makes perfect sense and he would probably have great chemistry with Brooklyn’s two superstars. Derrick Rose was a three-time NBA All-Star and NBA MVP before suffering his knee injuries and knows what it is like to be the superstar of the team.

In a role off the bench and taking a lesser role could be very beneficial to him in his efforts to elongate his career and given that he was once in the same position as Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant he could become a fantastic role player next to them.

Veteran, experienced players of Rose’s caliber do not hit the trade market everyday and even though trading for Rose would basically be “loaning” him for a year, since his contract is set to expire at the conclusion of the 2020-21 season, bringing him in and potentially winning a title is worth it.

Brooklyn needs to make a move to add depth to their backcourt alongside Kyrie Irving and for a low price, Derrick Rose could end up with the Nets.
