Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Brooklyn Nets
As stated earlier, the Nets would probably hold off on making any trades seeing as they are already one of the league’s best teams, but in the event that they decide to trade Dinwiddie, this trade with the Knicks is not that bad at all for Brooklyn. Not only do they get two first-round talents, but they also get a first-round pick in next year’s draft.
The New York Knicks have an abundance of point guards and with the Nets trading away Spencer Dinwiddie, who is their backup point guard behind Kyrie Irving, they would have their pick at who they would want from the Knicks at this position. Dennis Smith Jr. offers the most upside and with the Nets’ high-tempo pace of play, he would fit right in given his athletic abilities.
Kevin Knox is a guy that would take some time to develop, but being able to learn from Kevin Durant could end up being the best thing to ever happen to him. They are two completely different players, but Knox shares some things in common with Durant.
During his time at Kentucky and early in his career in the NBA, Kevin Knox tends to shoot more mid-range shots than three-pointers and use his size and height well to attack the paint against smaller defenders. Over the course of his career, KD has made a living on knocking down shots from mid-range and is one of the best wings at using his height to score over defenders.
Neither or these two young players would come into the Nets organization and make an immediate impact right away, which is likely why Brooklyn would decline all trade offers from every team around the league, but in the event that they want to acquire young talent, the Knicks organization is the place to look.
