Why the Trade Benefits the Houston Rockets

The relationship between James Harden and the Houston Rockets has not been strong. It was diminished throughout the NBA offseason and that continued during the preseason. With their schedule beginning, it will be interesting to see how Houston plays this situation.

They sent Russell Westbrook to Washington in exchange for John Wall. He will team up with his former teammate at Kentucky in DeMarcus Cousins. These two will be the new focal point of the team if Harden is sent away. At this point, that seems like it has to happen.

Harden has made it clear that he wants to be sent away. Trading a disgruntled player will benefit any team. Houston would be able to add some key role players and draft picks to their plan moving forward.

The Rockets gave Harden plenty of chances to win and he was unable to take the next step in the postseason. The idea of cutting ties is one that should intrigue the Rockets, especially if they are able to land a big return.
