Tyler Herro Ends Up As A Finalist For Sixth-Man Of The Year
Given his gifted shooting abilities and natural instincts to score, Tyler Herro will wind up in the conversation for the Sixth-Man of the Year award. Every season, this award tends to be given away to a player who came off the bench and made an impact with one of the better teams in the league.
The last four winners: Montrezl Harrel (2020), Lou Williams (2018 & 2019) and Eric Gordon (2017) all had big roles off the bench for winning teams and the one thing they all had in common was that they could score in bunches. Each of these guys averaged 16 points per game or better and both Williams and Gordon shot 36% from three-point range or better.
There are no questions about Herro’s abilities to score the basketball and given that he could end up as a 40% three-point shooter, he will exceed the average percentage from the previous winners of the award.
This season, with the Heat returning basically everyone from a season ago, Tyler Herro will once again be one of the first guys to sub in off the bench and as a result, will be one of the better bench scorers in the entire league.
He will have to compete with Montrezl Harrell, Dennis Schroder and Lou Williams all in Los Angeles with the Lakers and Clippers, but if there is one thing we know about Herro, it is that he never backs down from a challenge and embraces being the underdog.
Expect Tyler Herro to do big things off the bench for the Miami Heat this season, making him a legit candidate for the Sixth-Man of the Year award.
