Target #2: Richaun Holmes – Sacramento Kings
After letting Robin Lopez and Ersan Ilyasova go during the offseason and Marvin Williams retiring, the Bucks are pretty thin in their front-court. Giannis and Bobby Portis make up the two reliable options at power forward, leaving Brook Lopez as the only true center on the roster.
Bolstering their center position and trading for a reliable backup center would be huge for the Bucks, which is why a player like Richaun Holmes would make sense.
His $5 million contract for the 2020-21 NBA season would be something the Bucks could easily trade for given their financial restrictions and Holmes has proven to be a pretty decent center. Last season with the Kings, he averaged 12.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and shot 64.8% from the floor.
With Marvin Bagley III expected to get more involved in the front-court with the Kings this year and them signing Hassan Whiteside during the offseason, Holmes is a player the Kings may be willing to listen to offers on.
The Bucks led the league in rebounds per game last season, but they really need to acquire depth behind Lopez, as he cannot play the entire game and it does not seem like the Bucks want to move Giannis to the center position. Holmes would give this team a reliable rebounder, who is also a reliable shot-blocker as well.
Given the shooters and depth they have in their back-court, the Bucks bolstering their front-court would go a long way in their pursuit for a championship and would help them down the stretch. Adding another big body to the rotation not only keeps them at the top of the league in rebounding, but could make them one of the better defensive teams in the entire league.
