Why The Trade Benefits The Pacers
Indiana has a chance to blow up their roster a bit heading into the season. We are still waiting to see if and where Victor Oladipo will be traded. While waiting, Malcolm Brogdon could be the next man out.
The Pacers are a playoff team in a weak Eastern Conference. Domantas Sabonis has turned into an All-Star caliber center along with TJ Warren, who is a scoring threat out on the perimeter. Other than that, Indiana has relied on players like Brogdon and Oladipo over the years.
With the current contract situations, these players could be on their way out. Wiggins is another player with a high ceiling to take over some duties on the perimeter.
Indiana was swept out of the first round by the Miami Heat during the postseason in the bubble. It was clear that they are an imperfect team, which means the front office could look to make some moves heading into the 2020-2021 season.
Add in the fact that Aaron Holiday is more than capable of taking over as the starting point guard, and this deal could make even more sense.
