Aaron Gordon Gets Traded At The Trade Deadline

Not only was Aaron Gordon’s name brought up a lot in trade rumors this offseason, but he is owed $34M over the next two seasons, making him a player the Magic may look to move on from and free up a lot of cap room. While he has been a solid role player over the years and has done a lot of good for the Orlando Magic, Aaron Gordon has never turned into the star player they had hoped he would be.

At this point in his career, Aaron Gordon has reached his full potential and is nothing more than a reliable, athletic role player. While he has been a consistent rebounder over the years, his shooting stats have taken a dip slightly and as a result, have resulted in his offensive production declining as a whole.

On the open market, Aaron Gordon would have a solid amount of trade interest and his value would be very reasonable. If the Magic want to gather some first-round draft picks, as well as another rotation player for Aaron Gordon, they would definitely be able to do so around the trade deadline, which is why it would be a smart move for them to move on from the 25-year old forward.

If they were able to move Aaron Gordon’s contract, they would not only be able to gather draft assets to continue building a young core for the future, but they would free up just under $40M in cap space for next offseason and could look to be aggressive to land another All-Star caliber talent next to Vucevic.

Aaron Gordon is not a player that if the Magic keep, he will be the difference maker in them being a true contender in the Eastern Conference, nor is he a guy that will negatively affect this team in the long-run if he is traded. With the Magic being in no position to contend right now, they need to be looking towards the future and acquiring draft assets is a lot more important than what Aaron Gordon brings to the table for this organization.
