Why The Trade Benefits The Bulls

The Bulls have been near the bottom of the Eastern Conference for a few years now. They are clearly in a rebuilding phase, which means they could send away some star players for a big return.

They have finished near the bottom of the conference with Zach LaVine, so they could certainly do it without him.

Zeller is entering the final year of his contract. This would be a short-term commitment for Chicago. Washington and Monk are young players who have a high-ceiling that could be reached in a different situation.

Rozier is the biggest part of this deal for the Bulls, along with a first-round pick. Rozier is a starting caliber guard in this league and one a team could put players around moving forward.

Chicago has a long way to go before they can be taken seriously within the East. If this means reshaping the roster entirely, that is what they will have to do.
